There are now many more pupils in school who have emigrated from other countries to Spain. As the parents of these children need to find work when they arrive, the children are often at school in places where there is more industry, such as Barcelona, Vizcaya, Madrid and the south of Spain. In other places, such as Galicia, there are fewer children who have come to live in Spain from other places.

All these children come from many different backgrounds, have different customs and religions, and often speak different languages. It is important to think about how each child in every school has something different to offer, and how you and everyone else at your school make your school the way it is because of who you are!

Nowadays there are more people moving from one place to go to live somewhere else than ever before. Transport is more easily available for some, but also, wars and disturbances in many countries have forced some people to move. Even if you do not know many people who come from other places right now, it is likely that in the future you will live in a world where many people from many different places will live together. This is why it is so important that people learn about each other, and find out more about how different we are in some ways, and yet in other ways, how alike we are.

It helps to start to think about things in this way, because you become more open to different ideas about people, and about life. You also become more aware of how other people think and feel. This helps you to form your own thoughts and opinions about things, and to understand why migration takes place, and why people leave their countries to go and live somewhere else. Learning about other people is not just learning about the places that they come from, it is about learning how communities of different people can live in the same place and accept their differences.

It is important to remember also, that it is not just you who is learning about how to live in a world where different people from many different places come to live together. Because the world is changing for everyone in this way, everyone is having to learn about how this is changing life for all of us. People often become worried when they feel that things are changing in some way, but many good things can come through change.
