For us (Muslims) food is related to religion and to the family, so it's important. First of all, let me tell you that Morocco is really famous for food. Actually, if you like spices, you'd like any north African food. Let me tell you something about it and I bet you get hungry!

Perhaps the most popular dish is Couscous. The main ingredients are usually wheat, vegetables and either lamb or chicken. Taijina is also delicious and can be made in different ways (its name comes from the kind of pot it's cooked in). Brochetas (hey, sounds like a Catalan word) are kebabs, and can be made of chicken, beef or even camel. Harira is a soup with mostly vegetables, tomato, spices, etc and maybe a bit of meat, and it's the first dish eaten during Ramadan when the sun goes down. Pastilla is a dish which needs patience to prepare. It's a kind of delicacy with pigeon, almonds and pine kernels. There are also some delicious cakes, which are often made with dry fruit, honey and sugar, though we also eat crepes and fruit salads a lot. Feeling hungry yet?
