I speak Spanish because I was born in Spain.

My parents can hardly speak the language of our ancestors (Romanó Calé). My grandparents can speak it better, but even they don't speak it well. I know some words, that's all. It makes it harder because Romanó Calé has always been a spoken language not a written one. Mind you, I use some expressions and sayings that my friends don't, though I try not to use them in class since my teachers tell me that I have to speak good Spanish. Really, I suppose I only speak differently at home.

I would like to know more about Romanó Caló and maybe, if I go to university (I would love that) I could become a specialist in minority languages. It would be so great to find out about Romanó Caló history, to go to India and everything, to see how it developed and what its future might be..... Well, maybe it's true what my father and mother usually say: "You are dreaming, daughter". Time will tell.
