When I came to Spain I was 9 and only spoke Croat. Croat (or Serbo-Croat as it's sometimes called) is the official language of Croatia and is spoken by about 96% of the population. The other languages spoken there are Istriot, Romani, Hungarian, Czech, Slovak, German and Italian. Now of course, I also speak Spanish and I'm learning English at school. My father still speaks to me in Croat at home, but only uses it outside when we are alone or with people who speak or at least understand Croat too. I think it's good to keep the language, so that our ties with Croatia are not completely broken, and then when I go there to visit I can still talk to people.
